Great Waikoloa Canoe Race 2012

This is the third time I photographed the Great Waikoloa Canoe Race in Waikoloa, Hawaii (the Big Island).

What set this race apart from all the others I have shot was the heavy wind. There were 5-10 knot gusts on top of 25 knots sustained. The men's race included all kinds of crazy mishaps and dangerous situations, and when I wasn't assisting the boat captain in performing rescues of capsized boats and stranded paddlers, I was shooting some great stuff.

You can read the full story I wrote on liliu.co here.

I posted 320 images from the race on my PhotoShelter store here.
